A protest group is planning to shake up the Sydney Mardi Gras in a push to ban police and all members of the Liberal Party from the parade.
Activist group Pride in Protest will vote at the Mardi Gras 2018 Annual General meeting on October 27, in a bid to make the parade 'safer and inclusive'.
They also have plans to review the organisation's partnership with corporate sponsors including Qantas and ANZ.
The group aims to: 'remove the homophobic Liberal Party - who has a long history of abysmal homophobia, and who is now led by outspoken No campaigner Scott Morrison - from our Mardi Gras'.

'We will campaign to remove the immensely violent institutions of the NSW Police, the Australian Federal Police and all associated organisations such as the Police Association from Mardi Gras,' Pride in Protest wrote to Facebook.
The protest group believes police presence makes it impossible to create a safe, inclusive and progressive event.
Pride in Protest will also call upon the government to end the sniffer dog program that 'facilitates police overreach'.
'We will take back Mardi Gras from the for-profits and corporations it has become so beholden to, by pledging that no amount of money will buy space away from community organisations and unions,' Pride in Protest wrote.
In addition to attempting to rid the parade of police presence, activists are also aiming to boycott Eurovision in Israel in 2019 and endorse the 2019 Palm Sunday Refugee rally.
The group will also be conducting a review into the parade's corporate relationship with Qantas, 'given Qantas' participation in the deportation of refugees'.
'We will have Mardi Gras review its corporate relationship with ANZ in light of its position as a major financier of the fossil fuels industry, and its mistreatment of workers and consumers as revealed in the Royal Commission,' they said.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported that the protest group's radical plans are strongly opposed by other stakeholders.

Pride in Protest is putting four candidates forward to the board of directors at the meeting, Holly Brooke, Evan Gray, Salem Barrett-Brown and Kleon Toffetti.
'Mardi Gras has never stopped being political: its politics have simply changed and become more conservative, and less about liberation and equality,' Ms Brooke told the publication.
Prominent stakeholders have dubbed the protest group 'an extreme left-wing group' and a threat to the parade.
70 members of Mardi Gras signed a letter saying all the actions Pride in Protest wanted to implement will 'undermine the organisation and send it bankrupt'.
The letter said if the motions were passed, it would disadvantage the parade in years to come.

Liberal member for North Sydney, Trent Zimmerman, told the publication Mardi Gras would be 'severely diminished' if police and the Liberal Party were banned (image from 2018 Mardi Gras)
Liberal member for North Sydney, Trent Zimmerman, told the publication Mardi Gras would be 'severely diminished' if police and the Liberal Party were banned.
'An event that is about tolerance will be severely diminished if it shows such intolerance towards organisations that are promoting Mardi Gras and its objectives,' Mr Zimmerman said.
More than 150 people attended Pride in Protest's campaign launch in October, and its Facebook page has quickly accumulated more than 1000 likes.

A spokesman for ANZ said it was proud to be a partner of the Mardi Gras for almost ten years.
A Qantas spokesperson said the company was also proudly associated with the event for almost 20 years.
A spokesman for Mardi Gras said it was the members' decision on who they wanted to represent them.
'It is not the first time, nor will it be the last, that a range of different viewpoints are expressed by nominees hoping to be elected to the Mardi Gras board.'
