Elena Kountoura, the Greek Tourism Minister received the award on behalf of the ministry on the sidelines of the 16th European Gastronomy & Wine Congress at the Zappeion Megaron in Athens (October 19-21).
The Greek Tourism Ministry was awarded by the CEUCO President Carlos Martín Cosme with the “Best European Institution in Tourism and Gastronomy” award for its constant efforts in tourism and gastronomy promotion in Europe for 2018.
Also, Cosme honored Minister Kountoura personally with the “Aurum for Honor 2018” special honorary distinction.
While delivering her speech, the minister congratulated CEUCO for the honor and mentioned the efforts of the ministry and the Greek National Tourism Organization in promoting Greece’s gastronomy, wine tourism, agrotourism and agri-food to markets abroad.
The minister emphasized that she completely supports each and every effort in Greece and Europe for sustainable tourism development, which endorses culture and cultural heritage, and improves the tourism product by targeting on the authentic vacation experiences that visitors enjoy at each destination.
