CII-IGBC wants the Telangana government to offer incentives for green buildings, including implementation of a GO providing 10% rebate in property tax.
Listing the incentives sought, Hyderabad Chapter chairman C. Shekar Reddy said the Permit Fee should be reduced by 20% as a measure to encourage developers and builders. A 20% reduction in impact fee is another incentive IGBC wants for certified green buildings.
In support, the Council cited multiple benefits accruing to State governments that provide incentives, including a reduction in power consumption, waste segregation at source and management as well as improvement in the quality of life.
It intends to reiterate the demand at the curtain raiser event of Green Building Congress here, on October 31. Telangana Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi, to whom it had submitted a memorandum in July, is scheduled to participate.
The GO pertaining to property tax rebate said it is applicable for projects using solar heating and lighting system as well as undertaking recycling of waste water and rainwater harvesting structures.
The benefit, however, was not being extended, the IGBC said.
Other measures IGBC wants is reduction in water and sewerage tariff by 10% for certified green buildings for three years and faster clearances for building permission.
