BENGALURU: A 19-year-old boy was charred to death after his motorcycle rammed a truck carrying LPG cylinders near Devanahalli, northeast Bengaluru, on Wednesday.
The deceased, Somu alias Somashekar, was a resident of Bhattaramarenahalli, Devanahalli, and a private firm staffer in Devanahalli Town. He was riding to office when the accident occurred at 8.30am, police said.
“Somashekar was overtaking a car when he rammed the KR Puram-bound truck coming from the opposite direction. The bike hit the diesel tank of the truck carrying over 200 LPG cylinders. In no time, a fire broke out and gutted the truck and the bike,” a police officer said.
Four fire tenders from Devanahalli station were pressed into service and the fire was doused after nearly an hour. Traffic on the Devanahalli-Budigere Road came to a standstill for nearly 45 minutes, police said.
