more-in

The Health and Social Justice Department is preparing a comprehensive scheme for identifying differently abled infants below one year, Health Minister K.K. Shylaja has said.

Addressing a workshop organised by the Health Department for making Kerala a differently abled-friendly State, Ms. Shylaja said that the guidelines should be based on the Differently Abled Rights Act, 2016.

Survey

The Health and Social Justice Departments would conduct a survey for detecting hearing, growth and other problems of infants below one year, she said. Anganwadi and Asha workers would visit houses to identify such infants and report it to the Primary Health Centre for providing special care. Due health care would be provided to such infants, she said.

Health Director R.L. Sarita, Medical Education Director Ramla Beevi, and Social Security Mission executive director Muhammed Asheel were among those who attended the workshop.
