Normalcy to return to HiTec City roads

Metro work to resume without fully closing roads unlike earlier

Ten days after the Government brought metro rail work at the HiTec City junction to a halt, following much criticism over traffic chaos due to the restrictions, the stage is once again set for the work to begin any time soon.

Restricted movement

This time, metro rail authorities have decided not to close any road fully as was done earlier this month at the junction when the left splay was closed. However, there will be restricted movement of vehicles with a few lanes closed to allow work to go on in an effort to minimise inconvenience to commuters.

“We are also planning the schedule in such a manner that most critical work would be done in the non-peak hours and late at night,” claims Hyderabad Metro Rail MD N.V.S. Reddy.

While a total of 26 pillars are to be built from HiTec City to Trident Hotel, metro engineers have managed to complete eight pillars. They will soon be gradually taking up three pillars abutting HiTec City and three on the adjacent flyover.

Metro rail authorities have removed a cycle stand and few other encroachments on the road towards the MindSpace junction. Soon, HiTec City building wall and part of its parking space inside will be made available for vehicles, he explained.

Space for two-wheelers

On Trident Hotel side too, space has been created for two-wheelers to move about during the current construction phase expected to go on till December end. Crucial work will begin on building pillars on central median of flyover for which the down ramp at the hotel has been widened by a couple of metres for vehicles to move.

“We have to do at least one pillar in the central median fully but we will trying out new methods to complete work faster,” Mr. Reddy claims.

Reverse viaduct

All this work is for building ‘reverse’ viaduct from HiTec City metro station to Trident Hotel to enable metro trains from Nagole-Ameerpet take a reverse and rejoin the track as terminal station to come up at Mindspace junction and designated as Raidurg will take another year to get done.
