The delay in publication of results has left students who completed MBA course in colleges affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) in June a worried lot.
According to them, the varsity was yet to publish the results of their third semester examinations held in November last year. The schedule for viva-voce to be held at the end of the fourth semester has also not been decided. The valuation process for the fourth semester examinations will start only after the date of viva-voce is decided, they said.
A student, who received a job offer from a leading IT company through campus placement, said he had been asked to join the organisation in December.
“However, they [recruiter] have asked me to submit my provisional marklist which seems a distant possibility going by the delay in the publication of results,” he added.
Those who have already taken up jobs are also a harried lot. “Some companies have made it clear that we should submit marklists by the end of December. Many of us have requested the respective HR departments to extend the deadline to February as we hope that the results of the third and fourth semester exams will be published by that time,” they said.
A student who had taken a break from his first job to pursue management programme said his promotion had been delayed in view of the uncertainty in the submission of marklist. “I could have gone to the next level if the authorities had published the results in time,” he said. Students said that they were constantly in touch with the university examination wing. “We have been told that staff shortage was the reason for the delay. Our request is that the authorities at least fix the date of viva-voce,” they added.
Meanwhile, university officials said a majority of examinations had been held in advance over the last one year. However, they agreed that the third semester results had been delayed. But steps have been taken to publish them soon. Also, arrangements for holding viva voce have been made, they informed.
