Pimpri: The Pimpri-Chinchwad New Township Development Authority - Pradhikaran (PCNTDA) has decided to permit the height of skyscrapers in its areas from the present 11 floors to 22 floors. A decision in this connection was taken by the Pradhikaran at a meeting held recently.

Presently, the construction in the Pradhikaran areas is allowed only up to 36 metres (11 floors). Now it is proposed to permit construction up to 69 metres (22 floors).

The hike in the height of the buildings will increase the number of availability of flats in the Nigdi Pradhikaran area which includes Bhosari, Chikhali, Akurdi and Wakad areas.

PCNTDA Chairman Sadashiv Khade said that the Pradhikaran will send its decision to the Maharashtra government for its approval. The decision will be implemented after receiving the government’s sanction, he said.

The Nigdi Pradhikaran area falls under the jurisdiction of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. The construction activities in the Pradhikaran area are not on the style of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation area due to different development rules. In keeping with the Pradhikaran development rules, there are no multiplexes, theatres, residential hotels or malls in the Pradhikaran area.
