Non-beneficiaries found staying in JnNURM housing schemes
Sachin Sharma | TNN | Oct 25, 2018, 22:52 ISTVADODARA: Teams of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) conducted surprise checking in urban poor housing schemes in different areas of the city on Thursday to identify persons who were wrongly occupying the houses there. The schemes have come up under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM)
VMC officials checked housing schemes in the Kalali, Tarsali, Sayajipura and Kapurai areas of the city. In all, 1,894 houses were checked here after complaints that beneficiaries who were given the houses had rented them to others. It came to light that persons other than the beneficiaries were staying in 47 houses.
In August, VMC officials had checked the Valmiki Ambedkar Aavas Yojana (VAMBAY) housing scheme in the Danteshwar area of the city. The teams sealed 150 houses that had been rented out at the scheme. The housing scheme that came up in Danteshwar in 2002 had 828 houses in it.
