Arctic Monkeys announce upcoming Australian tour

Brit-rockers Arctic Monkeys are returning to Australia in February and March 2019.

The Sheffield band, led by enigmatic frontman Alex Turner, will kick off the tour at Perth's RAC Arena on February 23, then Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena (February 26), Sydney's Qudos Bank Arena (March 1) and Brisbane's Entertainment Centre (March 3), before continuing to New Zealand.

It will mark the heralded rockers' first Australian tour since 2014.

The tour follows the release of the band's sixth full-length Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, a thematically dense concept album about a luxury resort (and its rooftop taqueria) on the moon.

The Mercury Prize-nominated album, the band's comeback after a near five-year absence, debuted at #1 on the ARIA Chart in May, fuelled by the charming Bowie-esque lead single Four Out of Five.

The band will be joined on the tour by US pop-rockers Mini Mansions, featuring Zach Dawes of The Last Shadow Puppets and Michael Shuman of Queens of the Stone Age.

Tickets to the gigs go on sale to the general public on Wednesday November 7.
