Pune: Officials of the Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (PMRDA) have planned to take locals of Mahalunge along with them during the development of Mahalunge village which is one of the town planning schemes (TPS) of PMRDA. The authority has also planned to set up an assistance centre which will be operational two days a week in Mahalunge village and will assist the locals in taking development-related decisions.

Officials of PMRDA said that locals who are planning any development-related work will be guided by PMRDA on legal, banking and other technical issues. “The assistance centre will help locals and give them timely guidance so they do not fall prey to scams,” stated a PMRDA official. The TPS is planned on 700 acres of land and will connect Balewadi to Hinjawadi. PMRDA Chief Kiran Gitte said the development will need about Rs 600 crore investment.

“As per the plan, there are roads with road width of 12 to 36 metres, water management scheme, garbage management scheme, electricity facility and other important facilities for the TPS. We thank the locals of Mahalunge for supporting and cooperating with the development of TPS. The whole scheme is divided into 9 zones and the marking for the same is under progress,” added Gitte.

Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority has planned to develop Mahalunge township as a model for the 20 townships that it aims to develop along the proposed ring road around Pune.
