CHENNAI: Conceding that the verdict of the third judge of the Madras high court on the disqualification of 18 MLAs was not what they had expected, AMMK deputy general secretary T T V Dhinakaran on Thursday said he would decide the next course of action after consulting with the disqualified MLAs.

"We were expecting that it would be in our favour and the disqualification would be quashed, but the verdict that has come is just the opposite. However, this is not a setback for us. It is an experience," he told reporters here.

Dhinakaran said he would discuss with the 18 MLAs and decide on the next course. "We are open to options. We are ready to face the bypolls or go for an appeal," he said.

"Even if bypolls are announced for 20 assembly segments (18 constituencies which the disqualified MLAs represented and two other seats -- Tiruvarur and Thiruparankundram -- which fell vacant after the deaths of M Karunanidhi and A K Bose), we are ready to face them. We will win in all the 20 seats. People know who the traitors are. That's why they gave me victory in R K Nagar bypoll," Dhinakaran said.
