Crime branch arrests 4 bookies with Rs. 5 lakh


Ujjain: Crime branch police on Wednesday, claimed to have busted a racket of 4 bookies: Nimlesh Rao Mahto, Nikhilesh Parmar and Kishore. They were allegedly arrested while accepting betting on mobile phones on India West Indies cricket one day match. Along with the details of Rs 5 lakh betting amount, laptops, mobile phones, calculators and cash were seized from the premises in Swati Nagar located on Indore Road, which was being used by bookies.

Building Was locked From outside

ASP crime branch Pramod Sonkar alleged that the bookies were operating from the house which was locked from outside. Not just this, the house owner was keeping a watch for them from outside. Police also found that cameras were installed outside the building for surveillance of outside activities. However, police first detained the house owner and got him to open the lock of the building. An FIR has been registered against the accused.
