If you look extremely carefully you might just spot the deer hiding among the broken trees of this extraordinary image.  

The camouflaged young stag, pictured only metres away from the photographer, can be just about seen hiding from an older more aggressive deer in the foliage.  

Professional photographer Ingo Gerlach, 65, snapped the baby stag in this forest scene in the Sauerland region in western Germany.

The Sauerland is a rural, sparsely inhabited area stretching across the south-eastern part of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is an ideal habitat for deer thanks to its dense forest and rolling hills.

The stag can be found towards the bottom right of the photograph, camouflaged among the broken branches on the forest floor 

A closer look shows the baby stag, whose antlers are not yet fully formed, apparently hiding from an older more aggressive deer
