Snatchers have a field day, pocket 17.5 sovereigns gold
TNN | Oct 26, 2018, 00:10 ISTCoimbatore: Four women lost gold chains worth 17.5 sovereigns to two motorcycle-borne men in the city on Wednesday.
The snatchers first targeted 24-year-old V Divya, who had picked up her children from their school and was on the way to the home at MGR Nagar at Sundarapuram. When they reached Kasthuri Nagar around 4.30pm, two men on a motorcycle snatched her two-sovereign gold chain. Though the young mother raised an alarm, the duo managed to escape.
The miscreants then reached Arul Murugan Nagar at Podanur and snatched a three-sovereign gold chain from 57-year-old T Sulochana, who was standing in front of her house.
Later, the duo reached Singanallur and snatched a 2.5-sovereign gold chain from 47-year-old K Sumathi of Kothari Nagar, who was on the way to her home from a temple.
In the fourth incident, the snatchers pocketed a 10-sovereign gold chain from 34-year-old P Ponnuthai of VOC Nagar near Ganapathy.
Police are investigating the incidents.
