He scored his 10,000th run during his scintillating, unbeaten knock of 157 against West Indies in Visakhapatnam. He overtook maestro Sachin Tendulkar's record. Sachin Tendulkar scored his 10,000th run against Australia in 2001 in his 259th innings. Virat Kohli achieved this feat in just 205 innings.
