GUWAHATI: An All Assam Students' Union (Aasu) leader has joined the proscribed Ulfa (Independent) to fight for Assam's "freedom". The student leader announced his decision and made a call to action to the state's youth in a video that surfaced on Wednesday.
Pankaj Pratim Dutta was vice-president of the Dergaon unit of Aasu in Golaghat district before he became untraceable on September 5. His family registered a missing report. On Wednesday, a video surfaced on social media in which Dutta urged the youth of Assam to join the "freedom movement".
"As a representative of Assam's youth, I believe the only way to protect our community is to have a sovereign Assam," Dutta said.
