Adalats of the city Corporation’s town planning wing often attracts people with a variety of complaints from city residents.
The case was no different this time too, at the town planning adalat held on Wednesday, where the complaints ranged from those regarding documents that have been missing for years to those on delay in building permit application clearance.
Cases
Ali from Poojappura had handed over several documents of a small house he had bought, including the building plans, to the Engineering department back in 2015.
Missing papers
But, the papers have remained missing since then. On Wednesday, he was at the Corporation office to make yet another try.
“I had initially given the application to change the name in the title deed. But they raised a few illegalities. Later, I gave an application for regularisation. Nothing moved after that. I filed a Right to Information application. They replied that the papers are all missing. Since then, I have been running behind this,” says Ali.
Road development
Balu, another applicant was at the adalat because the small commercial space he owns in Pattom has been marked for future road development.
He thinks that the turn ofi events is the handiwork of a big businessman, who had approached him for the same land, for expanding the former’s parking lot.
A total of 94 applications were received at the Corporation for the town planning adalat.
Out of the ones settled, 78 were disposed of.
It was decided to grant permit to 17 of these, TC numbers to 34 of these, and unauthorised number to 10 of these.
Set aside
Four of the applications have been set aside for need of more clarity, five have been sent for Chief Town Planner and Archaeology department’s tests, and four have been sent for government’s regularisation proceedings.
Four applications were rejected.
The town planning adalat that was chaired by Corporation Mayor V.K. Prasanth began at 11 a.m. and ended at 4.30 p.m.
Town Planning Committee Chairman Palayam Rajan, other Standing Committee chairpersons and other officials were also present.
