AMBALA: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) women front president Sarla Kapoor has filed a defamation case against the Congress general secretary and former Ambala Councillor Himmat Singh for his remarks against the party workers.

According to Sarla Kapoor, the Congress leader had said BJP workers, Dalal, and also said they can even sell their mothers.

On the complaint of Sarla, a case has been registered against Himmat Singh under section 500 (punishment for defamation), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code at Baldev Nagar police station and the police have also started the investigation.

In her statement to police, Sarla stated that “The Haryana Roadways employees are protesting since October 16 outside roadways workshop in Sector 7 of Ambala. On October 17, at around 11.30am Congress leader Himmat Singh had visited the protesting employees and supported their demand in his addressing speech. Singh has called the people of BJP as Dalal (middleman) and also said that the BJP people can even sell their mothers.”

On the other hand, the Congress party district president slammed Himmat for the remarks.

Harish Sasan, district president Congress said, “It cannot be the ideology of the Congress party and such statements should not be given and Himmat must accept his mistake. These statements could be of Amit Shah or Modi, but it is not the ideology of Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party. A meeting in this regard is going to take place and whatever the party decides, the same will be accepted.”

Aseem Goyal, MLA Ambala City said, “It is very unfortunate that the workers of Congress party are doing cheap politics and they are targeting the mothers of BJP workers. We are going to write a letter to Congress President Rahul Gandhi in this regard to act against the party worker.”
