NIA arrests TN man for helping ISIS supporter get passport

TRICHY: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested M Shafeek Ahamed, 30, of Pattukottai in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu for allegedly helping a man having links with the ISIS get an Indian passport.
Ahamed allegedly helped V K Shajahan alias Mohammed Ismail Mohideen get a passport using forged documents.
Shajahan, who was deported by Turkish authorities due to his involvement in the activities of the ISIS, was arrested on his arrival at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi on July 1, 2017.
On September 5, 2017, a case was registered in the PS Special Cell, New Delhi. The NIA took over the investigation of the case on September 5, 2017.
On December 23, 2017, the NIA filed a chargesheet against Shajahan and another man named Mohammed Mustafa, who was arrested from Chennai on July 12, 2017.
The agency booked Ahamed, who was arrested on Tuesday, for his alleged involvement in the case. He was produced in an NIA special court in New Delhi. The court remanded him in seven days NIA custody.
