October heat seems to be in no mood to give any respite to Mumbaikars. On Tuesday the city saw the mercury climb up recording maximum temperature of 37.6 °C.
As per IMD officials as well as private weather forecasting groups, this October has not only been one of the hottest in the decade but also saw the lowest rainfall in the same period.
So far the highest maximum temperature was recorded on October 7 when the mercury soared to 37.8 °C.
“Warm and humid easterly winds have lead to temperature rise in the city. This has also resulted in sea breeze setting in late, making the mercury spike alarmingly,” said an IMD official.
Since 2008, Mumbai’s maximum temperature recorded in October crossed 37 °C only on three occasions. However, the city has already witnessed maximum temperatures crossing 37 °C over four times this month.
