The city police conducted a workshop on cyber security for school and college students at Delhi University’s North Campus on Tuesday.
The police said the aim of the workshop was to create awareness, and familiarise students with online threats and other dangers lurking in cyber space.
Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik, who was the chief guest, interacted with students and gave them tips on cyber safety. About 3,000 students attended the workshop.
“Cyber crimes have a tendency to cause victims long-term emotional trauma. We have set up a strong mechanism at the district and police station levels, and at the centralised Cyber Crime Cell to combat such crimes,” Mr. Patnaik told the participants.
The students were also made aware of possible threats to security via cyber space and the ways to prevent them.
The participants were made aware of activities that fall under the ambit of cyber crime to ensure they do not participate in such acts unknowingly.
