LUCKNOW: A BTech student of a private university was injured after some car-borne miscreants allegedly opened fire at him over an old rivalry in Sai Market under Chinhat police station on Tuesday. He is recuperating at KGMU trauma centre.
The victim, Shashank Srinek (22) is a native of Gorakhpur.

According to the police, the incident took place around 7pm when Shashank and his other friends were having tea outside Sai complex. Suddenly, a car with black film on its windows stopped and those sitting inside it opened fire at Shashank.

A bullet hit his leg after which Shashank fell to the ground. In an apparent attempt to spread panic, the attackers fired two more rounds and fled the scene towards Polytechnic crossing.

Police rushed Shashank to KGMU where he is recuperating. CO Gomtinagar Chakresh Mishra said the attackers were known to Shashank and he had been attacked over a battle of dominance.

"We are looking for CCTV footage from outside shops. The attackers would be arrested soon," he added.
