The Southern Air Command (SAC) of the Indian Air Force here held a seminar on the ‘Increasing importance of Southern Air Command and Indian Ocean Region (IOR)’ at its headquarters here.
Academicians and researchers from the CAPS, College of Air Warfare, Secunderabad; HQ Maritime Air Operations, Mumbai; and National Maritime Foundation (NMF), New Delhi; attended the deliberations.
Air Marshal B. Suresh AVSM VM, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, SAC, in his inaugural address, said the SAC was in the process of expansion, and new air and ground assets were being deployed in its area of responsibility, he said. Air Marshal K.K. Nohwar PVSM VM (Retd), Director General, CAPS, said the area of responsibility of the SAC included the most important Sea Lanes of Communication (SLOCs).
The seminar was attended by around 200 personnel from all the three services (Air Force, Army and Navy) exhibiting jointness.
