Cops to take ‘good touch, bad touch’ campaign online
TNN | Oct 25, 2018, 04:00 ISTVadodara: Encouraged with the response to their the ‘good touch, bad touch’ campaign, the city police have decided to go online and upload educative videos on the social media.
Deputy commissioner of police Saroj Kumari, who is heading the campaign, said that they aim to to reach out to maximum children and parents.
“Most people including children use some or other social media these days. By going online, we will be able to reach out to a large audience. This campaign is more about preventing crimes like molestation and saving the parents and children from trauma,” Kumari told TOI.
The police department had launched this campaign called ‘Samajh Sparsh Ni (Understanding The Touch)’ in July after the ‘Metoo’ campaign triggered a storm on Twitter.
A special team of 11 female cops led by Kumari began visiting the schools and educating children about good touch and bad touch. “The children are also being encouraged to speak up and confide about such incidents with their parents or teachers,” Kumari said. Police have also tied up with the psychology department of MS University to counsel children who have faced sexual harassment.
“We want to take this campaign across the state so that the awareness about molestation of children and how to prevent it increases,” Kumari added.
