2 sharpshooters of Manjeet Mahal gang in STF net; guns, bullets seized
Bagish Jha | TNN | Oct 24, 2018, 07:19 ISTGurgaon: A special task force (STF) of Haryana Police on Wednesday arrested two sharpshooters of gangster Manjeet Mahal’s gang from Sector 10.
Two pistols and three rounds of bullets were recovered from their possession. The accused were about to carry out a loot at the time of the arrest.
This was the second time that the STF has arrested members of Manjeet Mahal’s gang. The accused, identified as Vikram and Himanshu, both residents of Gurgaon, are wanted in several cases.
“They are wanted in two murder cases in Gurgaon and one in Delhi,” said DIG STF Satheesh Balan, adding that they have been declared proclaimed offenders by court in five different cases.
According to Balan, Mahal’s gang members mostly murdered people in Haryana in cases of gang rivalry and personal enmity. “They are not into extortion in Gurgaon and Haryana,” said the STF officer.
The STF had received information that the duo was in Gurgaon to execute a loot. “They were traced to Sector 10. When we reached the spot, they tried to escape, but the team managed to apprehend them,” said an STF officer.
In 2012, Himanshu along with Vikram, Sagar and Anil, had murdered a Delhi-based businessman in Dhankot. They never got arrested in the case, but in 2014, Vikram was caught with a consignment of hashish in Bahadurgarh. He was declared proclaimed offender in the case. The same year, Vikram was caught with an illegal weapon in Palam Vihar.
Earlier in January, the STF had arrested four members of the Manjeet Mahal gang from Jhajjar, while they were on the way to kill a member of the Jyoti Nandu gang.
The accused in the case were identified as Sachin, Deepak and Uttam from Jhajjar and Abhishek from Hisar.
A case was registered by the STF at Sector 10 police station under relevant sections of the IPC and the Arms Act.
