Vidit Gujarati ended the unbeaten run of young compatriot R. Praggnanandhaa and Abhijeet Gupta upstaged Vietnam’s Le Quang Liem to move into the joint third spot after four rounds of the Isle of Man International chess tournament here on Tuesday.
China’s Wang Hao and Azerbaijan’s Arkadij Naiditsch shared the lead with four points. Eight among the top-nine seeds are tied for the 10th place.
The day also saw some of the top-10 players, including former World champions Viswanathan Anand and Vladimir Kramnik post convincing victories. Anand defeated M. Shyam Sundar while Kramnik drubbed Austria’s Valentin Dragnev for their second wins.
