A third FIR was registered against 2006 batch IAS officer and former Agra district magistrate Zuhair Bin Saghir on corruption charges at Fatehabad police station Tuesday night.

Two other FIRs, one each at Civil Lines and Mundapandey police station in Moradabad, were registered against Saghir β€” who is presently posted as special secretary in the minor irrigation department β€” and seven others Monday. All three cases have been lodged on the basis of complaints filed by Pramod Kumar Sharma, inspector in the vigilance department. No arrests have been made so far.

The FIR in Agra was registered on the basis of inquiry conducted by the vigilance department on a complaint filed by a local resident alleging anomalies over acquiring of land for the Lucknow-Agra Expressway.

β€œThe complainant has alleged that Saghir misused his position as district magistrate of Agra in 2013-14. The agency said that the former DM was aware of that the expressway would come up and misused his position by getting his cousin sister Khalida Rehman to purchase two plots at Tibaha and Swar villages in Agra. Both plots were later acquired by the Express Highway Authority. Khalida benefited by a hefty amount after selling the plots,” said Brijesh Kumar Singh, station house officer of Fatehabad police station.

Saghir has been booked under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
