Woman raped by temple priest in Surat

SURAT: A woman was allegedly raped by a priest of a prominent temple in Dabholi area.
The 20-year-old woman lodged the complaint against the priest in Dabholi on Tuesday night for raping her twice in 15 days.
According to police, resident of a nearby area, the victim was raped by the priest second time, who had assured her financial help. Police have detained a few priests from the temple and started procedure to identify the accused. The woman was taken to New Civil Hospital (NCH) for medical examination.
Police investigation so far revealed that the survivor’s mother had suffered hand injury and for her treatment she took her to a hospital. She needed money for her mother’s treatment for which she asked some people, who suggested her to approach the temple for help.
“She went to the temple around 15 days ago and met one young priest, who allegedly raped her after assuring financial help. The accused asked her to come again and when she went on Tuesday he raped her for the second time,” said a senior police officer.
