Nokia might change the global name of Nokia X7, that was launched in China earlier this month. The name change, though, would be to Nokia 8.1, rather than Nokia 7.1 Plus, as per a tweet from tipster Nokia anew. They claim that Nokia 8.1 was the name change suggested by HMD Chief Product officer Juho Sarvikas, and the phone is expected to debut later in the year.

As per the tweets of Nokia anew, with the Twitter handle @nokiamobileru, Nokia 7.1 Plus will instead be announced by HMD Global at MWC 2019, and no information related to the device is available. This brings new light to the recent leaks around Nokia 8.1, which was spotted recently on Geekbench.

The phone had been listed based on Android 9 Pie, and running the Snapdragon 710 processor. Nokia X7, on the other hand, had been launched in China on October 17.

Featuring a 6.18-inch FHD+ display with PureDisplay technology, Nokia X7 comes with HDR 10 support, and a screen aspect ratio of 18.7:9. Running the Snapdragon 710 processor, it is based on Android 8.1 Oreo, and backed by a 3,500mAh battery.
