The last week of October is when two major Chinese smartphone players are gearing up to launch their flagships – Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 and OnePlus 6T. Mi Mix 3 launch in China is set for October 25 which is tomorrow, while OnePlus 6T will make its official debut on October 29. The latter will launch in India on October 30. OnePlus has also sent out invites for an event in New Delhi.

Mi Mix 3 will launch with a slide-out display, a first on any smartphone. It will also pack 10GB RAM and support 5G connectivity. The highlights of OnePlus 6T will be in-display fingerprint sensor dubbed by the company as Screen Unlock, as well as a waterdrop notch design and absence of a 3.5 mm headset jack.

Ahead of launch, let us take a look at everything we know so far about Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 and OnePlus 6T:

Xiaomi Mi Mix 3: Launch date, expected price

Mi Mix 3 is set for October 25 at an event in Beijing, China. This was confirmed by Xiaomi’s head of product management, Donovan Sung in a tweet. The company has confirmed a slide-out display, 10GB RAM and 5G support as well.

As for the price, Android Pure has claimed in a report that Mi Mix 3 with 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage will cost $510, which is around Rs 36,300 on conversion. The 6GB RAM and 128GB ROM will be available at a price of $555 (approximately Rs 39,500). Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage will sell for $600 or around Rs 42,700, while its 8GB RAM+256GB ROM model will cost $645 (approximately Rs 45,900) respectively.

The phone will likely be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, given it will have 5G support.

OnePlus 6T: Launch date, expected price

OnePlus 6T launch event is scheduled for October 29 in New York. OnePlus previously decided for an October 30 event, which was rescheduled to October 29 to avoid clash with Apple’s iPad, MacBook event on the same day in New York.

OnePlus 6T was recently spotted by tech blogger Carsten on a German retailer, Otto, which has listed the price and specifications of the upcoming phone.  OnePlus 6T 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage variant will be available at a price of 569 euros, which is approximately Rs 47,779 on conversion.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 3: Specifications and features we know so far

Reports suggest that Mi Mix 3 will get a 6.4-inch 1080p+ AMOLED slide-out display with a near 100 per cent screen-to-body ratio. Users will be able to slide the display down to reveal dual front cameras, which will be present on top. Xiaomi released a teaser video detailing how the slide-out display on Mi Mix 3 will work. The phone will sport an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is rumoured to be powered by the new Snapdragon 855 processor, though it is worth noting that Qualcomm is yet to confirm the name of its upcoming processor, which could also be called Snapdragon 8150.

The phone will be available in several storage configurations including one with 10GB RAM. The battery could be a 3,750mAh one and Mi Mix 3 could support 18W fast charging technology.

Another highlight could be 5G connectivity. If one goes by official teasers, 5G support could be build in phone’s hardware since the new Snapdragon processor will include external support for 5G. Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 could be the world’s first smartphone to support 5G networks.

Mi Mix 3 is speculated to feature a 16MP + 13MP rear camera. The selfie camera could be 20MP. Xiaomi has been confirmed that Mi Mix 3 will support slow-motion videos shot at 960fps.

OnePlus 6T: Specifications and features we know so far

OnePlus 6T will feature a waterdrop notch design and a slightly bigger 6.4-inch display, compared to a 6.28-inch AMOLED screen in OnePlus 6. The in-display fingerprint sensor, which the company is calling ‘Screen Unlock’ was confirmed by OnePlus CEO Pete Lau in an email to CNET. 

This will be the big change from the previous phone which sports a rear-mounted physical fingerprint sensor.

Details on camera have not been made official, though low-light photography could improve. This was hinted by CEO Pete Lau who posted a low-light camera sample on Chinese social networking site, Weibo, taken using OnePlus 6T. The new phone could continue with 16MP+20MP cameras at the back.

The company has also confirmed that OnePlus 6T will be backed by a bigger 3,700mAh battery, with support for DashCharge fast charging technology. Lau revealed in a separate interview with CNET that OnePlus 6T will not be waterproof and not support wireless charging. The phone will not have a 3.5 mm headset jack.
