Pune: The corporators and supporters of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) held a protest demanding that the civic body should not create yet another dumping yard at Hadapsar Industrial Estate area on Tuesday. Currently, there are three dumping yards out of which two are of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and one of Pune Cantonment Board (PCB).

Yogesh Sasane, NCP Corporator took part in the protest. He said, “The PMC is planning to open a new dumping ground of 750 tonnes at the backside of the existing dumping ground at Hadapsar Industrial Estate area. Since last year we are protesting against the same. The reason is there are already three dumping grounds from which two are of PMC of 750 and 200 tonnes each and one is of PCB of 200 tonnes.”

Sasane said, “Now the PMC is planning to open two more dumping grounds in the area. Residents of this area have several health issues due to the existing dumping ground and now the PMC wants to open two more, risking their lives more.”
