Louis Vuitton is known to make impressive statements. But the world-famous French luxury brand has announced a rather bizarre idea. In a bid to make it easier for people to carry their candles with them, wherever they go, Louis Vuitton is going to launch a candle that comes with a strap and can be carried around like a bag.
The brand will release a €175 (roughly around Rs 15,000) set of four candles scented by well-known perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud on November 5. Belletrud, who first worked with the brand in 2012 to create its signature perfumes, was inspired by the different elements of nature found throughout the four seasons in a year.
For example, the L’Air du Jardin candle was inspired by the spring scent of “the first rosebuds from the garden” and the Feuilles d’Or candle, which is intended to smell like a “scorched underbrush that permeates clothes during a walk in the woods”, is inspired by the fall.
Each scent is set to hit the stores in a white ceramic pot, designed by Marc Newson. And because each candle features identical packaging, different colour wicks have been used to differentiate each scent.
How would it turn into a bag? Each candle will have a camel-coloured strap, made from the same natural leather used for making the signature Louis Vuitton handbags. People can carry these perfumed candles with them, just like they’d carry a bag. The leather straps are adjustable and removable, so people can also carry the candles like a purse. Only, why anyone would like to carry a candle like a purse or a satchel is a little difficult to understand.
The candles will be available from November 5 on the Louis Vuitton website and at select Louis Vuitton boutiques.
