CID to go on a break for three months CID has been the flag-bearer in terms of programming for Sony TV.

CID has been entertaining the audience for 21 years, but it seems like fans have not had enough. For the last couple of days, fans have been concerned about rumours of the show ending this weekend. Indianexpress.com has exclusive information that the series is not ending but going on a three-month break.

A source close to the show exclusively shared with indianexpress.com, “CID is not wrapping up. But it is going on a short break and that’s only for a creative reason. The makers haven’t received any closure letter from the channel that proves that they are still in contract with them. The break has been decided mutually by the makers and channel as they want to reboot the show.”

“The producers of the show will take this time to decide on the new format of the show. With time, it’s important to innovate and grow. They are yet to decide whether it will come back as a daily or a weekend series. But it will be at par with the original series, also adding new age technology. For the time being, the audience will get to see the repeat telecast of CID on Sony,” the source added.

Later, Sony also issued a statement stating, “Having completed 20 years, CID, is the longest running cult show on Sony Entertainment Television. It has been a great journey so far, along with Fireworks Productions, and CID will now take an intermittent break starting 28th October, 2018. The last episode of the show will be aired on 27th October, 2018. The show will gear up for a renewed season with a lot more contextual cases keeping alive the thrill that the audience has experienced so far.”

Launched in 1997, CID was one of the first crime-based dramas on television. The investigative team primarily comprises of ACP Pradhyuman (Shivaji Satam), Daya (Dayanand Shetty), Abhijeet (Aditya Shrivastava) and Freddy (Dinesh Phadnis). CID has successfully aired more than 1500 episodes till date. The show has seen many changes but the core format has always been the same.

CID has also been the flag-bearer in terms of programming for Sony TV. Not just its various crime cases but the show is also known for ACP Pradhyuman’s trademark dialogues like “kuch toh gadbad hai” or “Daya darwaza tod do”.
