AGRA: A priest of one of the Agra’s oldest temple was booked after the DIG cyber cell found that shrine’s Wi-Fi connection was used to create two fake profiles of a 15-year-old girl on social media platforms - Hike and Instagram - to post morphed ‘objectionable pictures’.

The girl, in an FIR, claimed, that, “some unknown person misused her pictures and other personal details to make two fake accounts on Instagram and Hike.”

According to the police, the complainant is the classmate of priest’s son, who studies in Class XI.

Based on the girl’s complaint, Mantola police booked the priest under IPC section 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and IT act 65 and 67.

Speaking to TOI, Mantola SHO Gyanendra Kumar said, “The priest has been booked because temple’s Wi-Fi connection is on his name. We are also probing his teenage son’s role in the matter and will also book him once we have concrete evidence to produce in court.”

On condition of anonymity, a policeman said, “The accused boy, also 15, had uploaded the photos of the girl with other details of her on two fake profiles after she allegedly reprimanded him for an alleged molestation bid during a school picnic last month.”

He said, “After finding her fake profiles on the internet, the girl went into trauma and was admitted to a hospital. She narrated the ordeal to her parents and they later approached to DIG Agra range Love Kumar, who ordered a probe into it.”

Circle officer of Chatta, Ritesh Kumar Singh said, “Police is investigating the matter and will arrest the accused soon.”
