World’s youngest dastangos regale audience with folktales and epics

Dastangoi is the traditional Urdu art of storytelling, which evolved in 16th century. The name of this 16th century art of storytelling comes from dastan (story) and goi (its telling). Till a few years ago, it was a dying art. Now, the future appears bright for dastangoi. These children, aged between 8-12 years, are the world’s youngest dastangos. Raghav Mehta and Armaan Sen Dave are avowedly the youngest and second youngest dastangos in the world respectively. Kids becoming enthusiastic dastangos will ensure that the future is in safe hands, said Fouzia, the world’s first woman dastango and Garima Arya, the co-organiser of the children’s dastangoi event.
