Members of the Gangireddu community, who eke out a living by exhibiting skills of the majestic Ongole bulls, staged a demonstration in front of the Collectorate here on Monday against the alleged usurpation of their land by powerful persons in Nagulamudipi village, near Tarlupadu in Prakasam district.
The cattle rearers migrate to different cities and towns for at least six months in a year to entertain dwellers there by performing tricks with their bulls while thumping a dhol and playing a shehnai.
Returning to the village, they were shocked to see the land was usurped the persons, said community elder N. Kottaiah, before submitting a memorandum to the district officials praying for the return of their land to them. In the absence of land they would find it hard to tend to their bulls, they said.
