The Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 platform is a new chipset aimed at the mid-range smartphone market.
Qualcomm has announced its new Snapdragon 675 mobile platform for upcoming mid-end smartphones. New smartphones featuring the latest chipset will become available in early 2019. The announcement was made during the company’s 4G/5G summit in Hong Kong.
With the Snapdragon 675, Qualcomm says the focus in on mobile gaming. According to Qualcomm, the new processor will make sure that games load around 30 per cent faster and run at a faster frame per second with enhanced connectivity and punchier audio. Qualcomm goes on to claim that it has taken help from game engines like Unity and Unreal Engine 4 and developers to ensure games (for example, PUBG) perform much better on the Snapdragon 675 processor.

“The Snapdragon 675 plays a primary role in allowing OEMs to design next generation features with incredible performance into their upcoming smartphones,” said Kedar Kondap, vice president, product management, Qualcomm Technologies.
The new chipset also focuses on cameras and AI. The Snapdragon 675 will support triple cameras with 5x telephoto, 2.5x wide-angle and super wide-angle lenses. In addition, the camera hardware will support 480fps slo-mo (at 720p), portrait mode, and a face unlock feature on the front-facing cameras. The Snapdragon 675 is also said to be up to 35 per cent faster for web browsing.
As you’d expect, the Snapdragon 675 comes with a multi-core AI Engine which according to Qualcomm will deliver up to 50 per cent overall improvements in AI apps.
