Police are searching for the occupant of a car which was left abandoned on the rocks near the walkway to The Gap in Albany.

Police were aleted to the white dual-cab four-wheel drive on Monday afternoon just before 4pm. Officers were unable to locate the occupant of the car and police and emergency services with the help of a helicopter started to scour the area.

The search was suspended overnight and will resume on Tuesday. Police urge anyone with information to call Albany police station.
