The Thrikkakara police have booked a medical doctor and his friend for allegedly torturing the latter’s 10-year-old son.

According to the police, Adarsh Radhakrishnan, Chief Medical Officer, Ernakulam General Hospital, and his friend, who is the mother of the victim, were booked based on statements by the victim. “The woman and the boy used to stay with the doctor at his residence near Palachuvadu. And as per the victim’s statement, the accused used to beat him up regularly,” officials said.

The incident came to light on Sunday when the boy, after allegedly being assaulted by the accused, took shelter in another house in the neighbourhood. The neighbour informed the Childline and it alerted the police. Preliminary investigations revealed that the woman, a divorcee, had been living with the doctor for the past few years. The accused have been booked under under Section 323, 324 of IPC.
