Anthem’s commitment to high-quality healthcare services drives high ratings from CMS
Anthem Blue Cross (Anthem) today announced that the Company’s 2019 Medicare Advantage HMO plans, which will be offered in many counties throughout California, are rated 4.5 Stars by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), with five stars being the best rating. CMS’ Medicare Star Ratings gives health plans scores for the quality and performance of their services.

Star Ratings are calculated each year using a scale of one to five stars, and may change from year to year. The annual Medicare Star Ratings are posted online at www.medicare.gov.
Consumers can enroll in Anthem’s 2019 Medicare Advantage plans during Medicare’s Annual Election Period (AEP), which began October 15, 2018 and continues through December 7, 2018. Plans purchased during AEP are effective January 1, 2019. Some consumers are eligible to enroll in a Medicare plan outside of AEP. These individuals include those who are eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid benefits; consumers who qualify for a special enrollment period, such as those who recently moved; or individuals who are turning 65 and newly eligible for Medicare.
