Bomb threat: Security beefed up at district court in Kanpur

KANPUR: Security has been beefed up at district court after threat of bombing civil court was received by the authorities on Tuesday.
The district and police officials swung into action to tighten the security measures after receiving a letter from Akhil Bhartiya Nishad Manch, apprising the authorities of massive corruption prevailing in the civil court and threatening that the same would be blown in between Oct 23 and Oct 30.
Soon after the threat that was conveyed through an inland letter, received by the authorities, massive security arrangements were put in place across the district court premises. "Armed police personnel, bomb squad, dog squad and special teams of city police, have been deployed and massive checking drive is underway at present," said inspector Kotwali Pramod Kumar.
The inspector said that senior police officials has been briefed. He added that an inland letter was received by authorities of Civil Court on Tuesday morning which claims to be from Akhil Bhartiya Nishad Manch stating that blast would be done to blow the civil court in between Oct 23 and Oct 30. After the information of the bomb threat spread the police force cordoned the district court premises. "Security personnel have been deployed to vigil the district court premises," said a senior official.
Bomb squad swung into action and searched the premises to avert any untoward action.
"However as of now nothing suspicious was found but security could not be risked and alert was raised to beef up security," official added.
