As election campaign in Madhya Pradesh is heating up, a Congress MLA seems to have landed himself into a controversy for a comment on his own party. Jitu Patwari, the Congress MLA from Rau in Madhya Pradesh, on Tuesday said “party gayi tel lene” during a door-to-door interaction with voters in his constituency.
In a video shared on Twitter by news agency ANI, Patwari is seen interacting with an elderly couple of his constituency, saying: “Aapko meri ijjat rakhni hai. Party gayi tel lene (You need to keep up my honour. Party can go to hell).”

Aas the video went viral on social media, Patwari took to Twitter, saying, “Rau Vidhan Sabha ka har vyakti chahe wo mera virodhi hi kyu na ho, mere parivar ka hissa hai. Apne kshetra main jansampark ke dauran main dalgat nahi balki vyaktigat roop se sabhi (virodhiyo se bhi) milta hu, aur aage bhi milta rahunga (Every person in the Rau Vidhan Sabha, even if he is my opponent, is a part of my family. I not only interact with the public as a party representative but as an individual as well, and I will continue to do so in future).”

— Jitu Patwari (@jitupatwari) October 23, 2018
He also hinted that the Twitter trolling was an agenda of the BJP, alleging that the saffron party is trying to hide its fallacies by using such methods. “Main nai, poore desh ki janta ab keh rahi hai ‘BJP jaye tel lene’.. Bhajpa apna daaman chhupane ke liye tarah-tarah ke hathkande apna rahhi hai. Par janta sab janti hai (Not only me, but people of the entire nation are saying ‘BJP can go to hell’. BJP is trying to cover the blots on its name by one way or the other. But the public knows everything), ” he said in a separate tweet.
The state assembly elections are set to take place in Madhya Pradesh on November 28.
