Jammu and Kashmir govt withdraws circular on Bhagavad Gita, Ramayan

The directive, issued on Monday urged the school education department to “consider purchasing sufficient copies each of Urdu version of “Shreemad Bhagwat Geeta” and “Koshur Ramayan” for making these available in schools/colleges and public libraries etc of the state.

Jammu and Kashmir government Tuesday withdrew circular issued by the department of education directing introduction of “Shreemad Bhagavad Geeta” in Urdu and “Koshur Ramayan” in all educational institutions of the state.

“Circular issued by the education department stands withdrawn ab-initio on the directions of the Chief Secretary, BVR Subrahmanyam,” the order said.

The directive, issued on Monday urged the school education department, the higher education department, Director colleges, Director Libraries and culture department to “consider purchasing sufficient copies each of Urdu version of “Shreemad Bhagwat Geeta” and “Koshur Ramayan” authored by Shri Sarwanand Premi for making these available in schools/colleges and public libraries etc of the state.
