BENGALURU: A 42-year-old transport businessman and his 12-year-old son were killed on the spot when a speeding car rammed their bike on Avalahalli flyover along the Bengaluru-Chennai highway, near Hoskote, on Monday morning.

Avalahalli police said Brahmananda Reddy M (in pic) and his son Mouna Sai Reddy, residents of Medahalli near KR Puram, east Bengaluru, were on their way to Hoskote when the accident occurred around 10.30am.

The speeding sedan hit their bike from the rear on the down ramp and rammed the flyover’s parapet wall before grinding to a halt. The two-wheeler hurtled towards the parapet wall, throwing Brahmananda into the shoulder drain along the road below.

The boy, thrown off the bike, hit an electric pole; his body was cut into two at the waist. While the lower half of the body lay on the side of the flyover, the other half was found near the parapet wall. Both father and son died on the spot.

On way for eye checkup

Sai Reddy, a Class 6 student at a private school, had complained about visionrelated issues and his father was taking him to a hospital in Hoskote.

Avalahalli police rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to East Point College of Medical Sciences in Bidarahalli for autopsy.

The car driver fled, abandoning the vehicle.
