G.M. Eswara Rao has taken charge as Principal Chief Security Commissioner of South Central Railway. He belongs to the 1989 batch of civil services and joined Railway Protection Force in the rank of Assistant Security Commissioner, gradually rising to the rank of Inspector General (IG).
His initiative in establishing CCTV cameras, bomb detection units, X-ray baggage scanners and various other disaster management equipment for Chennai division was first-of-its-kind in Indian Railways. He received the Indian Police Medal in 2014 for outstanding professional service, a press release said.
