Medha Patkar to visit Vemulaghat on Oct. 27

Prominent social activist Medha Patkar would be visiting Vemulaghat village on the evening of October 27 and interact with the villagers.

According to sources, she is scheduled to visit Ranga Reddy Palamoor project in the morning and visit Vemulaghat in the evening. The villagers are planning to mobilise the land oustees across the State at Vemulaghat on that day so that they can pour out their problems before her.

As part of National Alliance of People’s Movement programme of ‘Respect the Constitution Yatra,’ she would be visiting both A.P. and Telangana from October 27 to October 31. Vemulaghat is one of the five villages that would get submerged under the Mallannasagar reservoir that would spread over Kondapaka and Toguta mandals. “The visit of Medha Patkar to our village will be an honour for our agitation and will be a moral support for us. We can continue our agitation till we get justice,” Hayat Uddin, one of the agitators of the village told The Hindu.
