Despite higher arrivals, spot turmeric prices increased at the markets in Erode as farmers brought in quality produce. Though the volume of turmeric trading in Erode is on the slide for the past few years as North Indian merchants buy the spice from other producing/trading centres such as Nizamabad, Warangal. On Wednesday, 3,300 bags were put up for sale and 65 per cent of them were sold. Finger turmeric increased by ₹400 a quintal at the Regulated Marketing Committee due to arrival of good quality turmeric. Root variety too was up by ₹550. Our Correspondent
