Ludhiana, October 23, 2018: Dayanad Medical College Hospital Ludhiana ISA CPR Training site organized a CPR training workshop at Cambridge International School Phagwara on Tuesday. Around 300-350 students and school staff attended the workshop and training session on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). CPR is an emergency lifesaving procedure performed when the heart stops beating. Immediate a right technique of CPR can double or triple chances of survival after cardiac arrest.
Dr Sunil Katyal said the training was done on occasion of World Restart a Heart day as per the Indian Society of Anaesthesiologist CPR guidelines. Mr Prem Gupta Secretary managing society told that our organization is committed not only for medical care but to educate the community as well. Dr Sandeep Puri Principal DMC&H said this kind of activities will make student more confident in handling medical emergencies. Dr GS Wander Chief Cardiologist Hero DMC Heart Institute said with increasing heart problems and incidences of cardiac arrest every citizen must be aware of CPR. Dr Anju Grewal added this kind of activity must be done regularly for students, police personnel, Hotel staff, Airport staff etc because this initial CPR increases the chance of survival. Dr Vivek Gupta Consultant Hero DMC & coordinator of this program said that the students and school staff were demonstrated the recognition & identification of cardiac arrest and were trained what to do in cases of cardiac arrest without any equipment till the medical help arrives. All the participants also practiced the chest compression (artificial technique of maintaining blood flow to whole body) during the cardiac arrest. The program was concluded with question answer session.
