Suspecting his wife of having an illicit relationship with someone, a 24-year-old man strangled her to death in Central Delhi's Kamla Market area. After killing his wife the accused Kamil sat next to her body even as their two-year-old daughter wondered what had happened to her mother who lay unconscious on the floor.
According to the police, accused Kamil came to the Kamla Market police station along with his two-year-old daughter in his lap. "He came to the police station around 1:44 am on Sunday and stated that he had strangled his wife Reshma (22) at their house," said a police officer. Immediately, a police team was rushed to the location where Reshma's body was found lying on the mattress. Her face had already turned blue indicating she had passed away a couple of hours before.
"The crime team was called at the location and the body was moved to the LNJP mortuary. A case of murder and dowry death has been registered. Further investigations are underway," added the official. Kamil worked as a peon at the Ambedkar college.
Initial investigations revealed that Kamil suspected that his wife was cheating on him with two other local men. Kamil resided in Shakir Ki Dandi area in a rented flat. Around three years back he fell in love with Reshma and later married her.
On Thursday, the couple had an argument over the same after which Reshma left for her mother's house. She returned home on Friday following which they again had an argument. In a fit of rage, Kamil strangled her in front of the two-year-old child. Kamil did not know what to do with the body and hence quietly sat there. He gave milk to his child and roamed around. On Saturday late night, he decided to inform the police.
